Every day this number stares at me reminding me of the commitment I made to myself at the beginning of the year, and by posting this it has helped me keep track, remain motivated and really take ownership for the words I speak.
Dad says: “If your word is no good, then you’re no good.” If you say you will do something, and you don’t consistently do what you say, then people will begin to lose trust and respect for you.
This can be a hard reality to admit to – I’m guilty of it every time I say I’ll be somewhere at a certain time, and arrive late. You may be guilty of it when you start a diet and sneak a chocolate, or if your boss asks you if you finished a report and you tell them ‘almost’ – when you haven’t even started it.
I made a conscious decision this year to be as true to myself as possible… if I can’t TRUST myself, or do what I say I will do, then why say it?
